`Eolab` (Renault), which can run for 100 kilometers on 1 liter of fuel, created by POSCO`s solution
- Eolab will be presented at the `2015 Seoul Motor Show` held on April 3rd. - Focusing on fuel economy by applying Ultra High Strength Steel and magnesium sheet Renault`s Eolab which features POSCO`S Ultra High Strength Steel and magnesium sheet will be presented at the `2015 Seoul Motor Show` which will be open at KINTEX on April 3rd in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. The concept car will be presented for the first time in Korea, as well as in the Asian region since its unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in October last year. Renault`s Eolab, which will be staged at the Seoul Motor Show, is a new prototype developed from a concept car that runs for 100km on 1 liter of fuel. It has recently been verified according to the New European Driving Cycle. Its excellent fuel efficiency and the unique exterior design with the shape of a water drop are highly anticipated by visitors. Above all, Eolab has exceptional fuel economy due to the lightweight body which features composite materials. The design allows for lowered air resistance and the application of innovative solutions. As its carbon dioxide production is only 22 grams per 1 kilometer, fuel economy and carbon emission reduction performance is five times higher than that of other green cars. It can be driven for up to 60 kilometers on electricity without emitting exhaust gas. It is expected that Eolab will take leading actions against changes in the car industry environment, such as regulations on carbon dioxide emission. POSCO applied a new type of steel, including Ultra High Strength Steel, such as 900TWIP and 2000HPF, and magnesium sheet in the development project of the Eolab concept car last year. It contributed to the lightweight car body, and undertook various solution marketing activities like participating in manufacturing parts for demo cars. In particular, the roof weight of Eolab was reduced by around 4.5 kilograms by applying POSCO`s magnesium sheet on the car roof which weighs approximately 10 kilograms. With the use of these lightweight materials on Eolab, it succeeded in reducing the weight about 400 kilograms in total compared to previous Renault`s compact cars. POSCO`s leading technology capability recognized in the European automobile market has been proven itself as the only steel company, as well as a non-European partner, among Renault`s five partners which participated in the development project of the Eolab concept car. These included Michelin and Faurecia. The innovative technologies applied in Eolab have already been in the stage of commercialization. Magnesium sheets manufactured in the same way of manufacturing the Eolab`s magnesium roof has been applied in the New SM7 Nova. Renault plans to gradually raise the rate of applying verified innovative technologies of Eolab to mass produced cars. POSCO plans to strengthen its own competitiveness by actively involving itself in solution marketing activities such as developing new steel grades and supporting utilization technologies through cooperation with clients, based on experience accumulated in the participation of Eolab`s development project. Cho Woo Hyun woohyun@posco.com (Source·Photo=Brand Marketing Group) - Renault`s Eolab which features POSCO`S Ultra High Strength Steel and magnesium sheet will be unveiled at the `2015 Seoul Motor Show` on April 3rdfor the first time in Asia. POSCO Group sets up 120 booths to introduce `successful cases of solution marketing`
- A preview of Korea International Steel & Nonferrous Metal Industry Expo (KISNON 2014) - Starts on September 24 at KINTEX, Ilsan The Korea International Steel & Nonferrous Metal Industry Expo (KISNON) 2014 is only 20 days away. KISNON 2014, which will be the focus of the Korean steel industry`s attention for the forthcoming weeks, will be held from September 24 to 27 at Halls 2 and 3 in KINTEX, Ilsan. Celebrating its 3rd anniversary this year, KISNON is hosted by the Korea Iron and Steel Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. POSCO will have the greatest presence of any participant at KISNON 2014 with 120 booths out of 900. It is set to emphasize solution marketing in a bid to avoid the over-reliance of previous exhibitions on merely listing products. The intention is to further publicize POSCO in association with clients by introducing products developed through solution marketing activities, as well as actual cases of success. This will promote POSCO`s solution marketing activities while also increasing the opportunities to find potential clients by attracting the interest and participation of those in Korea. The exhibition will consist of 7 zones, including electric, electronic and automobile sectors, timber, energy, shipbuilding, steel building materials, STS and new materials (magnesium and secondary batteries). Each zone will be positioned in a circular form extending around the center. Exhibits of each zone will fill up the hall from the center to the edges and they will be divided into levels based on the portion of solution marketing activities. Moreover, a meeting space as well as reception desk for solution marketing will be set up at the last part of the booths` traffic line to provide the opportunity for clients to conduct meetings with relevant POSCO staff on the spot. Thus, all clients who visit POSCO`s booths will be able to personally see the exhibits, which represent the results of solution marketing. Not only that, but clients will also be able to immediately fill out the forms distributed in advance and submit them to POSCO with their concerns and questions. This will enable POSCO to help solve the problems facing its clients more conveniently and quickly. Chairman Kwon Ohjoon will visit the booths of major participants of KISNON 2014 after cutting the tape as the chair of the Korea Iron and Steel Association on the first day of the event. POSCO will also hold the `Global EVI Forum` in Songdo, Incheon from October 27 to 29, held as part of its proactive pursuit of ways to promote its solution marketing among global clients. Seok-ho Yoon yoonish@posco.com (Source=Brand Marketing Group)
